EU energy conservation website

Facilities managers, building professionals, local authorities and tenants can now access a new energy conservation advice website called “BUILD UP” that has recently been launched by the EU as a tool for sharing information on reducing energy use in buildings. http://www.buildup.eu/

The BUILD UP initiative supports EU member states in implementing Directive 2002/91/EC, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), and takes over from the EU’s portal EPBD Buildings Platform.

The interactive web portal offers access to a wide range of information on best practices, technologies and legislation for energy reduction that is supplied by the users themselves.

It is intended to bring together practitioners and professional associations while motivating them to exchange best working practices and knowledge. It will also provide users with the latest news, resources, tools, guidelines, legislation, conferences and events concerning reductions in carbon footprints.

The new web portal will enable tenants interested in reducing their energy costs to find out where to obtain practical energy-saving information in their own country or region.

It will provide public authorities staff with access to many resources on the legislation, toolkits and guidelines produced by other cities, regions or countries, and a way to share expertise with their peers. Umbrella organisations, such as energy agencies, industrial associations and non-governmental agencies, will also be able to increase their visibility and share resources.
