The Environment Agency have issued a draft position statement on the permitting of composting facilities regarding the release of bioaerosols.

The statment says that facilities located within 250 metres of sesitive receptors (people within the 250m of the site for prolonged periods of time) will become controlled.

Permits will not be granted for facilities within 250 metres which handle more than 500 tonnes of waste at any one time or carry out thier operations in the open.
