The West Midlands region has a strong and highly competent manufacturing base that can take full advantage of new opportunities, for example the regional capability in electrical engineering is one of the strongest in the UK. There are also strong innovation assets in the region’s universities, with the capability to link effectively with business.
Strengths such as these give the region the capability to realise the worldwide potential for future growth in these markets which is reinforced by a strong partnership with UK Trade and Investment.

Environmental Technologies Cluster West Midlands - Advantage West Midlands
EU’s main policy instruments in this area, sets out an ambitious intent for the contribution that environmental technologies can make to both the sustainability of Europe’s environment and the sustainability of its economy. What is true for Europe is true for the West Midlands also. To ensure the West Midlands is at the forfront of this growth Advantage West Midlands have set up the Environmental Technologies Cluster.
A cluster plan has been developed which details the actions for this group.

Staffordshire and Shropshire Renewables Project
Staffordshire and Shropshire Renewables Project is set up to encourage businesses to make more use of renewable energy sources and establish Staffordshire and neighbouring Shropshire as UK leaders in renewable technology by developing a renewables business network, showcasing renewable technology and increasing investment in production of biomass fuel.
Bioenergy West Midlands has been established by Advantage West Midlands, Harper Adams University College, Defra, and the Government Office for the West Midlands to assist in the development of a dedicated regional bioenergy supply chain. What do we do?
