There is heavy responsibility towards the producers of packaging. The packaging waste directive outlines:
- Reduction of over-packaging
- Eliminate dangerous materials in packaging
- Reduce amount of packaging going to landfill
- Increased recovery and recycling of waste
- Place this burden on the producer
